KDS High School

KDS DAR High School serves grades 9-12. The average enrollment at the school is 475, with a school staff of 32 including administration, certified personnel and support personnel. The staff has great pride in knowing the extent of the many different programs that are in place to draw upon the various needs and learning abilities of the students within the total school program. The programs are designed to address the various levels of learning abilities and learning styles of the different age groups within the student body.

The requirements for graduation to earn an Alabama High School Diploma are some of the most stringent within the U.S. and undoubtedly the strongest that the state has ever witnessed. The students have six diploma options available to them. The variety of diploma options allow students to be diverse in meeting the requirements for graduation while also preparing them for future successes in the profession of their choice. The diploma options are Alabama Standard Academic Diploma, Alabama Advanced Academic Diploma, Alabama Career Technical Diploma, Alabama Advanced Career Technical Diploma, Alabama Occupational Diploma, and Alabama Alternative Diploma. Each student must pass all five portions of the Alabama High School Graduation Examination and pass 28 credits in the span of four years in the high school setting.  The 28 credits consist of: English, math, science, social studies, physical education, computer education, fine arts, health education, and specified electives.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In addition to the academic program, the students have a variety of extra-curricular activities that are available for the students. There were 17 different clubs available to the students that cover a wide array of different topics. These programs cover the areas of: drama, music, art, band, history, patriotism, foreign language, leadership, agri-science, and government. There were 23 different sports teams fielded in respect to the sports of: basketball, baseball, volleyball, football, softball, cheerleading, golf, tennis, track, and cross country.
