KDS students are making a name for
themselves at the state level and now nationally
as well. Below is information about three amazing
opportunities for our students and for our
school. If you know of any DAR Chapters or
members who would be interested in sponsoring
even a portion of one of these trips, please
forward this information to them. Our kids
deserve these opportunities to shine - let's
work together to make it happen!
Thank you, and God bless!

The KDS High School Scholar's Bowl
team has been invited to participate in the
National Championship Tournament in Chicago, IL.
This is the first time our team has ever been
invited to this prestigious event. Approximately
10 students will participate in the the
tournament. They will leave on May 28th and
return on June 2nd.
These hard-working and resourceful students
along with their teacher/advisor Matt Dennis
have successfully raised funds for this event,
but are continually looking to the future and
would greatly appreciate any and all
contributions towards a great Scholar's Bowl
season next year.
KDS High School Future Business
Leaders of America member Lorne Chrismon won 1st
place in 'Introduction to Parliamentary
Procedures' at the Alabama FBLA competition in
Birmingham recently. He now travels to Anaheim,
CA, to compete nationally. As Lorne's club
advisor, KDS High School Business teacher Connie
Cooper is also required to attend this national
event. They will leave June 24th and return on
June 29th. FBLA members and Mrs. Cooper are
busily raising the approximately $1700 needed
for the trip. All contributions would be greatly
appreciated.
The KDS FFA String Band has been
invited to attend Continental Congress this
summer to perform during the DAR School Supper.
Seven students and two chaperones will travel to
Washington, DC on Wednesday, July 8th and return
on Saturday, July 11th. This performance will
be an exciting opportunity for the String Band
to represent KDS to hundreds of DAR members.
Sponsors are needed to help cover the cost of
this trip.
